Spring Break — what’s the first thing that comes to mind upon hearing these two words? If it’s partying on the beach, it might be time for a reset. Sure, there’s a time and place for fun, but it doesn’t always have to come at the detriment of your health. Imagine if you used Spring Break as a time to reset, unwind, and truly relax. How amazing would that be?
Here are five incredible ways to make your Spring Break more mindful this year!
Slow Down
We’re often so busy in our day-to-day lives that we forget to slow down and appreciate the world around us. Whether you have time off at home or are traveling somewhere for Spring Break, give yourself the chance to slow down instead of rushing. Sleep in, cook a big meal, or take a long walk. Take time for yourself and do the things you love without worrying about how long it takes — simply enjoy it!
Discover a New Habit
Taking time off or switching up our routine on vacation is the perfect time to discover a new mindful habit. Try a new daily meditation routine, or read for 30 minutes before bed instead of watching TV. Keep your new habit up when Spring Break is over!
Take a Yoga Retreat
If you have a little time off, do something for yourself. Nothing says self-connection like yoga! These days, there are hundreds of yoga retreats to choose from. You can travel to exotic locations or find a lovely retreat center in your backyard. The options are endless! Taking the time to focus on your practice will give you the reset you’ve been craving.
Connect with Friends & Family
When was the last time you had a truly meaningful conversation with someone you loved? If it’s been too long, use the extra time around Spring Break to do so! Sharing yourself with others is such an incredible gift.
Unplug
Use Spring Break as an opportunity to unplug and take a social media detox. The constant need to feel connected to work and our social lives through the internet is extremely draining. Beyond adding stress to our lives, it also impacts things like our sleep patterns! Taking the time to unplug is one of the best ways to unwind and relax completely.
