‘Tis the season of giving! Unfortunately, all the giving can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming. I know I personally get stressed out when I choose to go shopping for presents for my loved ones. Instead, I have chosen to give from the heart with homemade goodies. It feels much more meaningful when I give or receive a gift made from love and thoughtfulness, so for the past few years I have been giving home made, self-love gifts to my friends. Their favorite? The homemade coffee scrub.
Homemade Body Scrub
This body scrub is super simple to make! For one jar you simply need one cup of coffee grinds, one cup of fine sea salt, and half a cup of coconut oil (I recommend fractionated coconut oil so you don’t clog up your friends’ drains). Mix all the ingredients together and add some of your favorite essential oils to make the scent unique to each of your friends!
I’ve also decided to be creative with my body scrubs this year and made a green tea scrub. The recipe is the same, you just substitute your coffee grinds for loose leaf green tea. You can be creative here with your essential oils as well.
Roll-On Essential Oils
The last recipe I have for you is one for roll on essential oils. For this you will need to purchase little oil rollers from your local organic grocery store or Amazon. You will also need a base oil - I recommend jojoba since it absorbs really well. And the last things you will need for this recipe is your favorite essentials oils. Once you have everything, fill you roller bottle up with jojoba oil and leave room to add your essential oil blend.
When you give from the heart you’re really taking the time to intentionally think about each of your loved ones while you make each of their gifts. Not to mention they will be reminded of how much you care for their well being when they use these thoughtful presents! Give the gift of self-love this year with your own homemade presents.
